The Clay Studio

The Clay Studio at Wishing Spring is

located at 

8862 W McNelly Rd

(behind the Gallery barn) in Bentonville, AR.

 10 AM - 3 PM Monday - Saturday 

We offer ongoing monthly classes,

special workshops and events.

Beginning Hand Building

A basic course in pinch, slab, and coil construction for adults and teens over the age of 12. It will include instruction in the use of equipment such as an extruder, slab roller, and pug mill. The last week will be glazing. Students need no prior experience. Tuition is charged by the month and includes the use of the studio whenever it is open. Clay and tools can be purchased at the studio.

 

Intermediate Hand Building

Some prior experience with clay is required for this course. Designed for adults and teens over the age of 12, students may choose their own projects and the instructor will facilitate design and construction. Projects may be utilitarian or sculptural. Glazing will be at the end of each month. Classes will be ongoing and tuition will be charged by the month. Clay and tools may be purchased at the studio. If a class is missed, it may be made up. This fee includes the use of the studio whenever it is open. 

 

Wheel Throwing

Designed for all levels of experience from beginner to advanced. Adults and teens over the age of 12 are welcome. Clay preparation, pug mill operation, and throwing techniques will be taught, starting with basic cylinder construction and on to more complicated forms as well as trimming and glazing. Clay and tools may be purchased at the studio.

Workshops

An opportunity for adults and teens over the age of 12 to learn various hand-building and surface techniques to enhance creations. The instructor will also discuss and demonstrate artistic glazing procedures to take a simple concept to another level. Clay and tools may be purchased at the studio.
