 10 AM - 3 PM Monday - Saturday 

We offer ongoing monthly classes, special workshops and events.

Beginning Hand Building, TUESDAYS, JULY 6, 13, 20, 27, from 11 TO 2 PM

A basic course in pinch, slab and coil construction for adults and teens over the age of 12. It will include instruction in use of equipment such as extruder, slab roller and pug mill. The last week will be glazing. Students need no prior experience. Tuition of $30 a session is charged by the month ($120 ) and includes use of the studio whenever it is open. Clay and tools can be purchased at the studio. Instructor is Jocelyn Knight, MFA, University of Arkansas.

 

Intermediate Hand Building, THURSDAYS, JULY 8, 15, 22, 29, from 10 TO 1 PM

Some prior experience with clay is required for this course. Designed for adults and teens over the age of 12, students may choose their own projects and the instructor will facilitate design and construction. Projects may be utilitarian or sculptural. Glazing will be at the end of each month. Classes will be on going and students will be charged by the month ($120). Clay and tools may be purchased at the studio. If a class is missed, it may be made up. This fee includes use of the studio whenever it is open. Instructor is Susana Jones, MFA, University of Arkansas.

 

Wheel Throwing, MONDAYS, JULY 12, 19, 26, from 6 to 9 PM.

Designed for all levels of experience from beginner to advanced. Adults and teens over the age of 12 are welcome. Clay preparation, pug mill operation and throwing techniques will be taught, starting with basic cylinder construction and on to more complicated forms as well as trimming and glazing. Tuition of $30 a session is charged by the month ($90) and missed classes may be made up. This fee includes use of the studio whenever it is open. Clay and tools may be purchased at the studio. Instructors are Margaret Rost, self taught with 40 years experience and Dave Johnson, BA in Ceramics from Luther College and 45 years as a professional potter.

 

Childern's Class  | Animals in Clay, MONDAYS, JULY 5, 12, 19, 26, AUG 4, 11, from 11 AM to 1 PM

 

Join in making a variety of clay critters ranging from sea turtles to garden frogs and insect- decorated pinch pots. Basic clay working skills and glazing will be taught to ages 8-12. Tuition is $20 a session, charged by the month ($80) and 2 weeks ($40 which can be payed in Aug.) Clay may be purchased at the studio. Tools will be supplied. Instructor is Joyce Haynes, BA in Applied Arts from Univ. of SW Louisiana. She excels in sculpting clay and is author of ¨Drawing Wild Animals¨ published by Weekly Reader Books.
